Brighton Fringe

It’s a year of firsts here at H&L HQ. Hot on the heels of our debut at the unbelievably amazingly lovely Machynlleth festival earlier in the month, we now stand on the cusp of our first appearance at the Brighton Fringe and excited are we! We’ll be pumping out our new show – ‘The Curse of Horse & Louis’ – thrice during the festival, from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th May, upstairs at the 3 & 10 bar near the seafront. Come along if you’re in the area – it promises to be the musical-sketch-horror-comedy event of the year (mainly due to a lack of competition)!

You can book tickets by clicking HERE - Friday night is an early-bird special, 2 for the price of 1! We reward eagerness. See you by the sea!

2 Views: Pre- And Inter-

Ahead of our double-Fringe-festival-smackdown in May, it’s time to spandex up and test out our new moves on the people of London again. As such, we’ll be previewing ‘The Curse…’ with sketch pals KWAT at the Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell on Thursday 26th. Promises to be a blast people, the show is taking shape nicely and should – (crosses fingers, touches wood, takes up religion and prays) – should be ready for our fast-approaching Machynlleth debut. This night will be the final piece of the puzzle. You can find all the details on Facebook here but here’s the headlines…

PREVIEW with KWAT @ THE BETSEY TROTWOOD. 26/04/12.8PM.

Also, you can now get a glimpse into our minds without major surgery thanks to the good people at London’s Stories who asked us questions and stuff and then told people what our answers were electronically. To read our interview, click on THIS.

A Curse-ory Glance…

So Spring has officially sprung and everyone seems quite happy about it all told. But here at H&L HQ our eyes are fixed firmly on the summertime rearing it’s glorious, sunny head in the distance. Fringe season is fast approaching and so it’s time for us to roll out a new show.

As such, we’ll be doing a work-in-progress version of our musical-sketch-horror-comedy ‘The Curse Of The Fetid Crow’ on Wednesday 28th March at the Wilmington Arms in Clerkenwell. Also in attendance will be our good friends, the truly wonderful The Silky Pair who will also be “showing you what they’ve got” in anticipation of their new show ‘Open Up’. Tickets are £5, show starts at 8pm, details can be found on Facebook here. Be there… if you dare!

Happy Place 4: Still Happy

This month’s guests for our regular night with usual-improv-suspects Marbles are straight out of the top drawer. Feast your eyes on THIS!

Masters of the art of sketch, Edinburgh Comedy Award winners Max & Ivan.

Stand-up extraordinaire and all-round top chap James Gill.

And a special guest appearance from one-half of cheeky sketch ladies Thomas Hardie.

Plus bumbling japery and brand new material from our good selves, and even brander, more newer material (’cause they make it up on the spot like) from Marbles.

All this and more (drinking) is happening at The Miller in London Bridge on March 14th. All it’ll cost you is £5. 8pm start.

Februmerry!

Greetings digital journeyman, or journeywoman, and welcome to horseandlouis.com. We’ve had a fantastic February so far in which we have learnt many things from our audiences. We have learnt that Horse looks, in one person’s opinion ‘a bit like Heston Blumenthal’; Louis has learnt what a slow cooker is for- ‘it’s for slow cooking’ and they have both learnt about Perry The Platypus courtesy of North Walsham (as a result Louis is now addicted to Disney cartoon series ‘Phineas and Ferb’… seriously though… just have a look at it…  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd7Qop304Oo).

Also this month and next, the 2012 Musical Comedy Awards are in full swing most Saturday afternoons at The Wilminton Arms in London, and we are proud to be hosting them for the 2nd year running  http://www.musicalcomedyawards.com/  Check out the site and if you get a chance, come along to see some of the finest and most exciting musical comedy acts in the UK… and us!  (FYI we are headling the show this Saturday afternoon so it’ll be going off!).

Hopefully see you soon in gig land!

Happy January Yo

Well then it’s finally happened. 2011 has got the hint and ‘bitten dust’ ‘made like there’s an egg in it’s shoe’ and ‘become history’ leaving the door wide open for 2012 to have a go at ‘being the year’. It’s going to be an exciting one for us, check out our gig list and see if we’ll be anywhere near you soon. This Wednesday (Jan 18th) we will be at The Fountain Inn, Ashurst (West Sussex) for the first draft of our 2012 Edinburgh show, who knows what will happen! (we have some idea what will happen). After that we’re hitting Sudbury Arts Centre on the 20th to revisit our 2011 `Edinburgh Show ‘Top Trumpin’, The Brittania Inn, Hackney (London) for Mae Martin’s new material night on the 27th and Trinity Church, Rackheath (Norfolk) for more Top Trumpin’ on the 28th. I don’t think we’ve played in a church before…  I think I probably know why.

Happy Christmas from Horse and Louis
